Happy Halloween

It was a wonderful Halloween for Eamon and Aine. We carved pumpkins earlier in the week and again on Halloween day. Eamon wanted a scary faced jack-o-lantern. Eamon and Aine helped pass out candy until Dave was home. While I continued to answer the door, Dave took them out trick or treating in the neighborhood. They LOVED it. Here are some pictures...

Actual dress-up photos to follow one we get them uploaded. They aren't working with the laptop.

Zoo

We have been back to the zoo now that the weather has cooled a bit. Eamon and Aine love Harmony Farm. This is an area of the zoo with animals indigenous to the typical farm. They do also like to see more exotic animals like the baby Orangutan.

Here are some pictures of our latest visits to the zoo with friends...

Butterflies

While out on our walk today, Eamon spotted a butterfly. Eamon theorized that it flew to our neighborhood from the Desert Botanical Gardens where they currently have a butterfly exhibit.

Clapotis

This is a really easy pattern from Knitty.com It is interesting enough to keep my attention, yet easy enough that I can knit while the kids play. There is a yahoo group that I joined for helpful hints and yarn suggestions. This version will be a gift for my MIL.

The clapotis is finished. My MIL liked it once she knew what it was. I hope she wears it and enjoys it.

Sewing

I have started sewing again. I picked out some basic patterns and fabric. I plan on making halloween pants for my kiddos as well as my nieces. I have two pairs done...

My blog

I decided to start another blog where I can post all my trials and tribulations. This is the unedited (and boring stuff). I will include books, crafting, and other miscellaneous stuff. Read only if you have nothing better to do.

We lost Eamon last Sunday...

A recount of the events on October 1st:

This morning, Aine and I took advantage of the cooler weather by heading off for a walk with Ava in tow. Eamon and Dave were still sleeping. I shut the garage door and strode off.

When I rounded the corner by our house on the return, I immediately noticed that the garage door was open. I KNEW that I had closed it. My fears were compounded when I saw that the door to our van was open. Eamon knows how to open the door to the van and push the garage door opener. I ran inside screaming for Eamon, waking Dave up in the process.

I ran back outside, threw Aine into the car. Dave was screaming for Eamon in the house and backyard. I heard his voice change, so I thought perhaps he saw Eamon in the park behind our house. I tore across the yard and saw a police cruiser. He veered over to me and told me he had my son.

Eamon had walked out of the house and down the street looking for me. A neighbor heard him crying, so he called the police. Eamon told them his name and our name. He told them Dave is a police officer. They were driving around our neighborhood looking for an open garage door with a cruiser outside.

One of the officers saw me running like a mad woman. He pulled up to me and told me he had my son.

What a morning....

Buzz buzz buzz

E: Mama, a bee just flew past me. Don't worry; it didn't sting me. It said, "What is your name, Eamon?"

H: What did you say?

E: I told him my name is Eamon.
