Some Quiet Time

This weekend, Dave set off for a bit of an adventure with the kiddos. They had a wonder filled time and were gone just long enough. While the apartment was quiet, I caught up on the mystery clue for the Stephen West shawl. I am liking the design more, but still not sure I will ever wear it. I am curious about the next clue, which will be the last. I really wonder how the designer is going to end the shawl since I just did an i-cord bind on on the main section.
I also used the time to begin my Ravellenic Games project. I am knitting Ziggity out of Madelinetosh Tosh Merino Light. I truly love this yarn. It is so very pretty. The pattern is flying off the needles. I have finished three of the four lace repeats. I think the result will be so nice when it is done. This one I will probably keep.
I am still reading When God Was a Rabbit. I am enjoying the work and it moves along quite quickly. This is a plus in my current life where reading comes in snippets. The kiddos and I started Farmer Boy (Little House) after finishing a quick chapter book that Aine received as part of the summer reading program. We listened to a bit of the Spiderwicks and Eamon had read the rest of the books in the series. We are now listening to some Cornelia Funke in the car.

So, what are you knitting and reading this week with Ginny? Are you participating in the Ravellenic Games?

  1. Yeah I'm not sure about that pattern either... and it wouldn't be reversible would it? That's a pet peeve of mine. Stellar job though!!

    1. It is not reversible. I am wondering what it will look like. I am hoping I don't need tights and a mask to wear it.

  4. What a nice ziggity pattern. And of course, I love MT yarns - that is always a treat to knit with. Good for you with the mystery shawl - I hope all works out well. What happens if his directions are not clear enough and you make a mistake? So, you don't know what the finished shawl looks like until you're done? Hmmm....I sort of like the mystery aspect of this and sort of not.

    1. With a mystery shawl, you have a load of support. This particular one has a group on revelry. There is help from the mods as well as spoiler threads. People post pictures of their shawls and you can compare. Everyone is available to help as well.

  5. The mystery shawl certainly is funky. Both shawls look great! Can't wait to see them finished. And I think I'll have to add your book to my list too, I keep coming across it.

  9. Dear Heather,
Thank you so much for thinking of my dad, I really appreciate it, he is doing a little better today and we will take each day at a time.

Your shawl is looking beautiful and I love the colour.

I just had a look at your link for the Ziggity and I really like it, I will be adding it to my list of knits to do.

    Take care

    Linda

  12. your knitting is so beautiful heather, i think any pattern you make would look lovely. i am remembering how your husband said in the morning he heard the soft click clacking of your needles while you knit, i thought that was so sweet.
i haven't participated, but it looks and sounds like fun!

  14. I love the colours of your shawl. I am still undecided as to whether I will cast this on, apparently I don't like mysteries, and although I buy the pattern, I have to see what it looks like first - so thanks for sharing!
