Out of Ideas

I am struggling to find meal ideas that do not require a lot of effort on the cook's part. I am definitely running out of ideas. I need your input. What do you make when it is too hot to cook?

  1. Chop up good tomatoes with garlic, fresh basil, olive oil and salt. Let stand while you boil some pasta (we like Barilla plus). Toss with cooked pasta. Add cheese of your choice - our two faves are pecorino romano and israeli feta.

  2. I make a lot of salad's [black bean and corn, quinoa, pasta, taco] and store in the fridge. We also eat a lot of fruit and cheese along with pita bread and hummus. I also use the crock pot:

Have a great weekend and stay cool!

  3. I would make pasta salad.

I also enjoy turkey hummus pitas. The only cooking is browning the ground turkey.

  4. Is it only me who never thinks of salads as "easy"? There's just too much chopping. That's what kills me in the summer. It's too hot for "rest of the year" meals, but I don't want to do all the prep work for cold meals.

  5. Thanks for the ideas. We will try them this week. I am just plain lazy in the summertime. By 3pm, the last place I want to be is in the kitchen.

  6. Bowls of cereal?

  7. I've only managed this *once* but it was memorable! I was so fed up with meal planning and cooking that I just grabbed "stuff" from the fridge and put it on the table, like a tapas bar. Ok, it was nothing like a tapas bar, but I called it that and that made it more interesting! My memory fades, but we had cheese, olives, cut up fruit and some very random leftovers and we ate away from the table. It was fun :)
