Last night I ventured out at night (something I don't usually do). My destination was knit night. As I left, I second guessed whether I really wanted to go. Dave reminded me that knitters are nice and that I should go. I hopped on the metro and headed to the meeting. The DC area knitters were welcoming and fun. Being able to sit and knit on my shawl for some uninterrupted time (including commute time) was such a welcome end to my day. I have about two more inches to go, and the Stripe Study shawl will be done. It has flown off the needles.
I am about a third of the way through The Art of Fielding. I am hoping to devote a bit more time to reading when the shawl is done. I am quite enjoying the story and characters.
What are you working on this week? Are you close to finishing? How about a knitting group-do you have one? As on every Wednesday, I am reading and knitting with Ginny's yarn along.
I would love to join a knitting group :)
ReplyDeleteA couple of hours of uninterupted knit time sounds wonderful :)
Your shawl is coming along beautifully!
Your shawl is looking fantastic, such a beautiful colour.
ReplyDeleteGlad you enjoyed your evening out.
I am so glad to hear you went to knit night Heather. Dave is right, knitters are nice. :) I wish I could go to the group they have here at the LYS, but it's just too far.
ReplyDeleteHave a great yarn along day.
The knitting group sounds lovely, we need one in our town. It looks like you and your family are enjoying Washington DC, I grew up north of DC and it is nice to see pictures from home. Happy Knitting.
ReplyDeletei do not knit (although i wish i could) but i do have a monthly craft group that does something hands on together. it is the most rejuvenating day of the month - i love it. sounds like this group might be the same.
ReplyDeleteI haven't been able to find a knitting group that fits me yet. I have been to a few and the others are on nights when I can't get a babysitter. Maybe one day.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you enjoyed yours - well done on being brave x
I love the colours of your stripe study :)
ReplyDeleteI haven't got a knit night anywhere near me, which is a shame as I'd like to find one!
I love your shawl. I am going to have to buy that pattern, I keep seeing it and admiring it. How nice you have made new friends in DC! I too did not like to leave my kids when they were younger :)
ReplyDeleteLove the shawl; the color is so yummy. I am so happy you got to knit and with some nice knitters too. I always second guess myself when I take time out for myself. It always does me good. I would love a knitting group but the one I know about meets at an odd time. I was reading in The Gentle Art of Domesticity about the gift of a knitting group. Good for you in getting out there-awesome!
ReplyDeletexo,
Ang (peach coglo)
I love my knit night, but I too get tempted to stay home and knit while I watch TV or catch up on podcasts. I can't wait to see your shawl finished. I am so in love with those colors!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to hear that you found a good group of knitters. I love the group of ladies I knit with each week and don't know what I would do without them.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you enjoyed your adventure...I must join a knitting circle here...I need to make the time. I always feel that yarn along is my knitting group.
ReplyDeleteI haven't had time to do any knitting this week...but maybe tonight.
Hope you manage to get some reading done tonight.
Take card,
Deb
the shawl looks great! and you're right, it seems as if it has flown off your needles.
ReplyDeleteAwww, those gorgeous colours....!
ReplyDeleteKnitting groups are such fun. Or even sitting together with friends, knitting and chatting. To go out takes a bit of a push sometimes, but it's so often worth it. Best,
ReplyDeleteCaroline
Oooh, a few hours of knitting! Wow, are you fast :) The shawl looks beautiful! I am about to try knitting and reading to the big kids on the couch. This way I might not fight falling asleep as much.
ReplyDeleteit's wonderful you went heather, i'm so glad you had a lovely time. your shawl is beautiful and is going to look so pretty on you. i don't have a group at the moment, but i teach on tuesdays and thursday, children and adults, which i really look forward to!
ReplyDeleteGood for you for having a mom's night out! I love the color of this shawl. There is a knitting group here in the town where I live, but I can't knit. Someone there could teach me, I'm sure....maybe I will do further investigation and find out when and where they meet. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI love the colours you chose for your shawl! I'm glad you enjoyed your knitting group. I'd love to go to the one here, but it's on a Thursday night when I already have things on.
ReplyDeleteGood on you for going to the knit group, I know there is a good local one, and I just can't bring myself to go! I look forward to seeing the finished shawl.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you came, and I hope you stop by again! Peeked through your other posts quickly -- really lovely photos and family. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Amanda!
DeleteThat's right.. us knitters are a great bunch (unless there is only one skein of merino wool left and it's on sale.. then it's every knitter for themselves!)
ReplyDeleteI'm catching up.. but what I see I love!
