The In-betweens

I finished up the languishing crazy spring socks on Saturday. I really like them and even wore them yesterday. They still need a good soak, but they fit really nicely. My bind-off may have been a bit loose (I went up a few needle sizes), but so far they don't slouch when I wear them. Despite the long time to complete, I would call them a success. With those socks complete, I currently only have the red swingy garter sweater on my needles. (To be completely honest, I also have the granny square blanket in progress, but I won't work on that until I have time and space to lay it out and seam it.)
The red sweater has truly just been sitting. I am at a crossroads with it. I think it may be too big and I am not so sure of the fit. It seemed like the ideal sweater with the offset front to add visual interest. Now I think it may just be a hot mess of yarn. I think a good critique of it is required today. I may ask my sister-in-love to help me decide. If it isn't going to work, I will frog it and try again with a smaller cast-on or switch completely to the Annabel sweater. I think once I decide, I will be able to quickly finish it. I only have the sleeves and two skeins of yarn. Once I run out of yarn, I am finished!

With only the sweater on my needles and my indifference to it, I had a brief moment of panic. What do I knit? I have a couple projects at the ready, but none I feel like doing. Too many projects are zooming around my head. I am starting to worry about the gift giving season and what I want to make. I am also feeling selfish and wanting to knit for myself. I made the kiddos' hats for this year, so those are done. Now what? Oh, the indecision! Currently, I am thinking about a hat and mitt combo for me in a bright orange yarn I have. Then I have a couple dolls to make, a shawl for the Pokemon-loving Eamon, a bright pink poncho for Aine and another sweater for me. And of course I should also cast-on for a new pair of socks.

While muddling through this period of in-between, I have been reading here and there. I started A Prayer for Owen Meany last week and was really enjoying it. Then a book I had been reading on my eReader was available from the library again. The first time I read it, the book had to be returned before I finished. I checked it back out and am trying to finish it quickly so I can return to Owen. With so much to do and read, I think I better get moving. First, though, there is yarn to wind.

  1. Heather, I think that red would make an awesome Annebel sweater, and really it is such a quick knit. I have a green jade one on the needles now, but this one is taking a little longer as it is a size 51. After this one is cast off I have three more to go and now think one should be red!

  6. Love that snugly red! Sometimes it's better to frog it than push through a project you aren't enjoying. Maybe set it aside and come back to it when it catches your interest again?

Well, you know what I did with my red sweater. :)

Did you see The Yarn Harlot's post recently about not having anything on the needles? I was surprised she'd gotten herself into that situation.

  8. I'm starting to plan holiday knitting, too, and some sewing projects and pottery and all sorts of handmade goodness. I have a scarf I REALLY want to knit for myself and keep putting it on the back burner. Maybe it will be my post-Christmas project this year.
