Things are Looking Up

I have a brand new laptop in hand, and despite a few bumps, I am back. It has been a busy week with packing, finalizing out move, sewing a bit and celebrating a birthday. I have only had time to focus on one knitting project - the achillea socks. They are to the point of the heel turn. I am eager to proceed to the foot and call them done. Of course, I am getting a bit ahead of myself. I still need to knit the heel and I do have big feet.

I have listened to a few audio books while packing. I finished Songs of the Humpback Whale and The Postmistress. I preferred the latter. I also started Caleb's Crossing. Lots of listening while I sort, purge and pack. Next up is cleaning and then we are out of here!

I hope to have more to share as they week progresses and the bugs are worked out on my new computer.

  1. You are funny Heather!
I like the socks, especially the color. I have a pair of socks on my needles that have been there for months and really need to get back to working on them. They are for my daughter and she might see them this Christmas! :)
I was very disappointed when I read Songs of the Humpback Whale too, not Jodi's usual writing.

    1. Well, I do have big feet. Perhaps I should knit these for someone with a size 6.

I agree with your assessment of SotHW. Just not as good as her later writing.

    1. It is really good. I am enjoying it so far. I just haven't had as much time to read it. It is the only book we still have from the library. Oh, and a pesky comic that my son cannot find.

  4. Never read that Picoult book... heard it wasn't the best though. One of her earlier writings.
I wondered when the actual move happening... getting close it looks like.
    Hope you have safe travels!

    1. Skip it, Kelly. It just wasn't up to her standards.

You've changed my moving life forever! I've never thought to listen to books on tape to make the time pass (oh, I do loathe moving and lo, do we do it oft). Thank you and happy packing! :-)
