Waiting

Although Benton and I only planted them a few days ago, we check on our seeds every day. I think we are all eager to see something grow in our small garden. I am trying not to yearn for our old garden and its splendor, although it was not large either. Benton wants to plant more seeds, so I am prepping some containers for beans and more greens or broccoli. Do you have a garden this time of year?

  1. It is such a long time waiting on seeds coming up. We are trying to gorw some Winter greens, but it is our first year here, so I don't know what to expect. i so know what you mean about yearning for a past garden. xxx

  2. We always plant a fall garden. Now, after a very dry summer and having to haul water to save the spring garden, we are having rain every day and I can't get in the fields to plant! xx

How fun - an Autumn garden! We can garden in the fall here, too, although I am a bit late to get started now. I think I'll focus on getting my spring bulbs planted instead :-)

  4. I love the excitement of waiting on seeds. Something I started with Chase a few years ago was to have him chart the growth we see. He started with a drawing of what the garden (or seedlings) looked like when first planted, and had him draw what they looked liked every three days. He also drew what the weather was for that day and the temperature. He really enjoys it and it is exciting to finally draw in those sprouts!

The only things we planted for fall this year is red leaf lettuce (which is ripe for picking) and cauliflower.
